As part of Encounter Ministries in Reno, Nevada, men, women and married couples are invited to spend a weekend, 48 hours, in a Christian camp at Lake Tahoe to encounter fresh perspective on a relationship to Jesus. Filled with worship and testimony it provides opportunity to connect with God in a non church setting with shared life experiences from other believers.

And the cartoon, would your church hire Jesus? makes a great point! Especially for seminary trained, phd’d pastors who’ve fallen from grace.

Balance would be the key , I have experienced both sides of the arguments but balance . What comes to mind is the net they were called to be fishers of men not creators of room design ..The net could be the methods used but the bottom line is; are the church goers encountering the Jesus of the Bible? Where you can see something has happened on the inside . Please don’t lose focus Jesus made us fishers of men, the bait is just that the bait .. God bless you all , I am blessed to read these articles..

I think of my relationship to God as one between a knight and a king. Jesus Christ is my Lord and King and I am His servant/knight/warrior. It works well for me.

Yes it does confuse men!! Having gone through many different evangelical church setups throughout the last 45 years, that phrase has never quite sat with me – in fact these days it completely does my head in.
Thanks for this helpful post – I love your alternative and more biblical suggestion of “walking with God”
